Anyone can lose weight using various diet plans, but to achieve something permanent, you have to allow your metabolism to work in order to burn the fat that is causing the excess weight. Losing only weight means you are not losing anything but water weight.</p>
<p>Losing fat cells from your body is what is going to help you maintain weight loss. You achieve this through exercise and a reduction in the amount of calories you consume. Exercise boosts the metabolism, which in turn burns the excess fat allowing you to lose weight. If you don&#8217;t reduce the amount of calories you consume, but you increase your level of activity, it&#8217;s possible you can still lose weight, depending on how much excess fat you have.</p>

The first question to ask is what is a calorie? You have to understand that one basic fact in order to understand the concept of weight gain and weight loss. A calorie is a unit of heat measurement that is required to raise the temperature of one degree Celsius. It also is a unit of measure for the energy food produces when it is used.</p>
<p>Calories are to our bodies as gasoline is to a car—without them, our bodies are not able to function. If we put more fuel into our bodies than is necessary for it to operate, the excess will sit there unused and thus, unburned. The body can then use it in two ways: as muscle if you perform enough physical exercises or as fat for those who fail to engage in enough physical activities to burn that excess fuel.</p>

The problem is that far too many men and women around the world focus so much on dieting and perfecting their external beauty that they forget the beautiful people they are inside along the way. Our culture is becoming obsessive about the perfect body and the perfect body image.</p>
<p>If there was one message that should make it out to everyone dieing it is this: dieting should be more about health than beauty. You should not need to conform to some preconceived notion of what is or should be beautiful. If we create a world where everyone looks alike it would be rather boring in the end.</p>

Even instances of gestational diabetes are much greater in patients that are overweight than in those that are not. Type 2, or adult onset diabetes is more commonly found in overweight people than those that are within their &#8216;ideal&#8217; weight ranges. In fact, almost 90% of those with Type 2 diabetes are overweight. If you are suffering from Type 2 diabetes, the best gift you could possibly give yourself just might be the gift of getting your weight under control.</p>
<p>Among those that suffer from Type 2 diabetes almost 40% have high blood pressure, which is another condition that is believed to be exacerbated by excess weight. Being overweight might also lead to a condition known as insulin resistance in which the body no longer responds to the insulin that is needed to assist the body in using sugar and glucose as fuel on a cellular level.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a clever little line in the Jimmy Buffet song &#8220;Fruitcakes&#8221; when his &#8216;lady&#8217; is lamenting:<br />
&#8220;I treat my body like a temple<br />
You treat yours like a tent&#8221;</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t help but think of this line whenever I think about all the people around the world who are going on these garbage in, garbage out diet plans hoping to achieve the weight loss success of those who are endorsing these products.</p>
